Course Layout Trial

In July 2019, The Committee announced to members that we would undertake two course layout trials.

These trials aimed to improve the flow of play and lessen the impact pinch points, which are inevitable on a 12-hole golf course.

Layout 1a was played on 21st July 2019, however, due to adverse weather during winter 2019/2020 we postponed the trial of layout 2a.

With this in mind, The Committee has decided to revisit the project and trial layout 2a (see map attached) over the winter months. Layout 2a will be trialled on the below dates:

Saturday 14th November 2020

Saturday 12th December 2020

Members will be able to play in these competitions for just £1 and optional 2s club will be run for an additional £1.

Guests with members are welcome to play for a reduced £5 green fee plus optional 2s club. Please note, the course will be closed to normal green-fees on the above dates.

We will be providing maps and special scorecards on each day and amending the tee signs to help everyone navigate the course.

Having analysed layout 2a in detail (see map attached), we hope that this layout will allow us to mitigate the pinch points we currently have in the middle of the course on holes 6 & 12. By having the first 'meeting point' by the first tee, our starter will be able to ensure the pace of play is upheld and your round continues to flow.

This layout will also allow us to increase the number of morning tee times that are available. However, for this to work and keep the pace of play flowing, the first 12 tee slots will be at 10-minute intervals, followed by slots every 20 minutes to allow players to slot in after 12 holes.

BRS will reflect the above tee structure and for the purpose of the trial, players will be permitted to play in four balls.

All feedback will be appreciated and taken on board following the completion of the trials.

Thanks for your support in this project to improve pace of play and make your golf even more enjoyable.
