The sun came out in June and the Drax golfers followed to take advantage of the glorious weather!
Highlight of the month was Mark Webster's 41 point total in the Dennis Banks Shield which enabled the Thorne golfer to take his first major of the year and earn him promotion to the Tigers division at the club. Snaith stalwart Richard Lyons was a creditable second with 39 points.
The Barry Marston Scramble, the season's predominant team game, was played this month and the all senior grouping of Dave Minto, Roger Elliott, Chris Burrows and Matthew Forde scooped top spot, just edging out Captain Kevin Harrison's team.
The Monthly medal saw some new names in the winner's circle with Ady Buck, Jordan Barton and Keith Richardson winning their respective divisions. The Midweek medal saw David Morgan win his first medal at Drax in Division 1, Steve Sutcliffe won Division 2 with Drax CC opening batsman Luke Edwards showing his versatility by winning Division 3!
Keith Richardson continued his good form by also winning the Senior Medal in a tight contest, the runner up John Thompson gained consolation by clinching the Senior Cup the following week. Selby's Neil Hathaway came back to form to reclaim the prestigious John Davies Shield.
The weather this year has conspired with the new green keeping staff to produce a superbly presented course in excellent condition, so now is the time to come down and explore Yorkshire's hidden gem.
